Cambodia is a Southeast Asian nation whose landscape spans low-lying plains, the Mekong Delta, mountains and Gulf of Thailand coastline. Phnom Penh, its capital, is home to the art deco Central Market, glittering Royal Palace and the National Museum's historical and archaeological exhibits. In the country's northwest are the ruins of Angkor Wat, a massive stone temple complex built during the Khmer Empire

Itinerary

Arrival – Ho Chi Minh City (D)

*Arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. *Pick up and transfer to the hotel. *Afternoon, city tour to visit the Jade Emperor pagoda, the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Municipal Post Office, People’s Committee House and City Theater. *Evening enjoy the water puppet show and dinner cruise. *Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho/Cai Be (B, L, D)

*Breakfast at the hotel. *In the morning we pick you up at your hotel in Saigon and take you to Can Tho or Cai Be. *You board your wooden river cruise vessel around noon. *After a refreshing welcome drink we show you our on-board facilities and your cosy cabin. As lunch is served, the boat starts cruising. *Sitback and watch the fantastic scenery and the daily life of the Mekong people. *In the afternoon you can disembark for a guided leisurely stroll through a village and the surrounding fruit orchards or rice fields. *Meet the friendly locals and taste the local produce and fruits. *Get back on board and enjoy a drink at the bar or relax on deck as the sun sets over the magnificent water landscape of the Mekong River. *The boat will anchor for the night. *The day ends with a delicious on-board dinner. *You stay overnight on board your floating hotel in the Mekong Delta.

Can Tho/Cai Be – Chau Doc (B, L)

*Wake up well rested to the sound of the Mekong river and get ready for another exciting day of sightseeing in the Mekong Delta. *At 6.30h the cruise vessel sets off for a sunrise cruise. *Watch the locals go about their daily work drying exotic fruits and building ships on the wooden yards while enjoying an early breakfast. *After breakfast, we will board a sampan boat to the Cai Rang floating market, the region’s busiest and most lively market. *On even dates, you will explore the small channels of the mekong delta around Cai Be with a small sampan or by foot. *Marvel at the sheer abundance of exotic fruits, vegetables and skilfully handcrafted regional products. *We will pull up to the boats for talking and bargaining with the merchants. *We will also visit some of the local candy and cake making factories or boat through the green water landscape to see local houses, verdant orchards and ship-building yards. *The floating markets in the Mekong Delta are no tourist markets but wholesale markets where produce of the Mekong Delta like fruits and vegetables are traded. *For this reason the number of boats on the market fluctuates depending on harvesting seasons and market demand. *Furthermore, modern wholesale markets are becoming more popular in Vietnam. *This can result in decreasing numbers of boats being present on the markets. *Disembark the boat at around 11.00 — 11.30h on the pier and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. *Sit back in the shuttle (bus or car) and watch the water landscape from a land perspective until you reach Chau Doc where we bring you to your hotel.

Chau Doc - Phnompenh (B)

*Breakfast at the hotel. *We transfer you to the pier where you embark the speed boat for an exciting ride to Phnom Penh. *Upon arrival at Phnom Penh airport, meets and transfers to hotel for check in *Lunch not included *In the afternoon, visit the National Museum. Housed in a beautiful traditional building, it contains many outstanding examples of Khmer craftsmanship. *Learn about a brighter period in Cambodian history with a visit to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. *Explore Wat Phnom, a peaceful temple situated on a hill for which the city is named. *According to legend, a 14th-century woman named Penh found sacred Buddhist objects in the nearby river and placed them here on the small hill. *Dinner not included and night at hotel in Phnom Penh.

Phnompenh – SiemReap – Angkor Wat Tours by flight (B)

*Breakfast at hotel *Transfer to Phnom Penh airport or flight to Siem Reap (airfare quoted separately) *Upon arrival at Siem Reap airport, meets and transfers directly for the: *Visit the antique capital of Angkor Thom (12 century): the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk, the Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara, the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. *Lunch not included *Visit to the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. *The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. *Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. *Enjoy wonderful sunset from the top of Pre Rup Temple. *Dinner not included and night at hotel.

SiemReap – Ho Chi Minh City (B)

*Breakfast at hotel *Visit to the unique interior brick sculptures of Prasat Kravan, Srah Srang ("The Royal Baths" was once used or ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by 4 concentric walls), Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. *Ta Prohm has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. *Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake) and Preah Khan temple, Built by the King Jayavarman VII. *Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors. *Unlike Ta Prohm, however, the temple of Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. *Lunch not included *Transfer to Siem Reap airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City. *Pick up and transfer to hotel in HCMC. *Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City – Departure (B)

*Breakfast at the hotel. *Morning, city tour to visit History Museum, Chinatown with Binh Tay wholesales market and Thien Hau Temple. * Visit a lacquer ware workshop. *Afternoon, transfer to the airport for the departure flight. *End of service.
